Application Example

The Wind Turbine Tec4us-WT5.4 (picture) is controlled by a laptop computer which periodically aligns the rotor axis position around the vertical axis of the generator nacelle with the direction of the wind flow by means of a small DC Motor. The wind flow direction is permanently detected by the weather vane and supplied to the computer by way of a data acquisition interface. Both wind and rotor axis directions are sensed by Tec4us-360-5 devices.

In order to avoid excessive twisting of the control and power cables, the alignment control program allows the nacelle to rotate around its vertical axis only within a range of 0 and 450°.
